Orioles eye seventh straight win
Apr 10, 2008 - 12:27 PM Baltimore (6-1) at Texas (3-4) 5:05 pm EDTARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - The Baltimore Orioles were supposed to be rebuilding this season, but apparently that does not mean they are destined to finish last in the loaded American League East.
With Wednesday's game pushed back a day because of rain, the first-place Orioles target their seventh straight win on Thursday when they meet the Texas Rangers in the first game of a day-night doubleheader to conclude a three-game set at Rangers Ballpark.
Baltimore - which defeated Texas, 8-1, in Tuesday's series opener for its sixth consecutive triumph - will match its best start since 1998 with a victory.
The Orioles have not won seven in a row since an eight-game streak from April 22-May 1, 2005.
Aubrey Huff went 4-for-4 and notched his second four-RBI game of the young season while Luke Scott and Scott Moore each homered in Tuesday's win.
The offense - which has outscored the opposition, 38-21, during the win streak - looks to continue its blistering pace against Kevin Millwood (0-2, 1.29), who originally was scheduled to start the final game of the series.
In 10 career starts against the Orioles, the righthander is 7-2 with a 3.49 ERA.
His pitching counterpart will be staff veteran Steve Trachsel (1-0, 3.18 ERA), who will be targeting a repeat of his season debut on Friday. In the Orioles' 7-4 win, the righthander allowed two runs and four hits over 5 2/3 innings.
