Harang hopes Reds' offense stays hot vs. Brewers
Apr 10, 2008 - 12:57 PM Cincinnati (5-4) at Milwaukee (6-2) 1:05 pm EDTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) - Give Aaron Harang some run support and he is nearly unbeatable.
Harang takes the mound Thursday hoping the Cincinnati Reds can build on their best offensive showing in the finale of a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
On Wednesday, the Reds fell behind 3-2 in the fifth on a two-run error by Brandon Phillips. However, Cincinnati then scored 10 straight runs en route to a 12-4 victory. Adam Dunn and Corey Patterson homered and every starter had at least one hit.
It was the first home run of the season for Dunn, who had been hitting just .130 (3-for-23) entering Wednesday's game.
Harang (0-1, 2.77 ERA), who is still looking for his first win, hopes the Reds can produce a similar effort on Thursday. The righthander is 29-4 over the last two seasons when given more than two runs of support.
Harang held the Philadelphia Phillies to two runs and six hits in seven innings on Sunday, but did not get a decision in the 4-3 victory.
The Brewers, who had their four-game winning streak snapped, send Carlos Villaneuva (1-0, 3.38) to the hill. Villaneuva allowed two runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings during a 13-4 victory over San Francisco on Friday.
