Twins-White Sox game postponed due to rain

Apr 10, 2008 - 8:15 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago White Sox will have to wait a little longer to avenge Wednesday's 12-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

Thursday night's game between the White Sox and Twins was postponed due to rain.

The game will be made up at U.S. Cellular Field on June 9, previously an open date for each club.

Chicago has already had an inch of rainfall on Thursday, with another inch or two forecasted for the evening.

Following Chicago's most lopsided loss of the season, manager Ozzie Guillen was eager to see how his team bounced back. But he will have to wait for those results until Friday's series opener against the Detroit Tigers.

One bright spot from Wednesday's tough setback, according to Guillen, was how his starters, who were removed early from the game, stayed around in the dugout to watch the finish.

"It's something you have to, early in the season, you will be in different situations at different points in the game, losing and winning in different ways," first baseman Paul Konerko said.

"How do you react to those things?" Konerko added. "It helps make the chemistry when you get to June, July, August, how you deal with things."

Jose Contreras, who received a no-decision in his first start of the season last Friday in Detroit, was scheduled to take the mound against Minnesota's Livan Hernandez, who won his first two starts for his new team.

Contreras will start Friday's game against the Tigers.

Hernandez will get the starting nod Friday when the Twins open a three-game series at Kansas City.
