Nationals look to end seven-game losing streak
Apr 11, 2008 - 2:18 PM Atlanta (3-6) at Washington (3-7) 7:35 pm EDTWASHINGTON (Ticker) - After a promising start, the Washington Nationals have struggled mightily over the last week.
The Nationals hope to end a seven-game losing streak when they host the Atlanta Braves on Friday.
Washington is coming off a sweep at the hands of Florida, being outscored 24-14 in the process.
Matt Chico (0-1, 5.56 ERA) hopes to put a stop to the Washington skid when he makes his third start of the season.
The lefthander is coming off a 5-4 defeat to St. Louis on April 5, giving up four runs and eight hits in six innings with two walks and five strikeouts. Chico is 2-2 with a 2.70 ERA in his career against Atlanta.
The Braves have gotten off to a slow start as well, losing three straight to Colorado before Thursday's contest was postponed due to snow.
Tim Hudson (1-0, 3.46) has pitched well so far and will make his third start of the year.
The righthander gave up three runs and six hits in six innings last Saturday, defeating the New York Mets, 11-5.
Hudson also started the season opener for Atlanta, giving up two runs and three hits in seven innings with two strikeouts against Washington on March 30.
Ryan Zimmerman hit a walk-off home run in that contest to win the game for the Nationals, 3-2.
