Blue Jays hope to rebound at Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - The Toronto Blue Jays look to bounce back from a three-game sweep when they visit the Texas Rangers on Friday.

The Blue Jays had swept the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox over the weekend but lost all three contests to Oakland, including a 12-inning, 3-2 setback in the finale on Thursday.

Jesse Litsch (1-0, 3.60 ERA) was solid in his first start, surrendering two runs and five hits with three walks and two strikeouts, defeating Boston, 10-2, last Saturday.

The 23-year-old righthander has never faced Texas.

The Rangers are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Baltimore on Thursday, which also ended the Orioles' six-game winning streak. Texas won the first game, 3-1, and the second by a 5-4 score as C.J. Wilson saved both contests.

Vicente Padilla (1-0, 2.77) is scheduled to make his third start of the season, and is coming off a victory at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday. The righthander gave up four runs - three earned - and nine hits in seven innings, striking out four in Texas' 10-4 win.

Padilla is 3-1 with a 3.25 ERA in the last two seasons against Toronto.
