Cueto takes the hill for Reds in finale

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - Johnny Cueto looks to continue his red-hot start and help the Cincinnati Reds avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Cueto (1-0, 2.02 ERA) has been brilliant in his first two starts, allowing just three runs with 18 strikeouts and no walks in 13 1/3 innings.

In his last outing, the hard-throwing 22-year-old gave up two runs and five hits in 6 1/3 frames in a no-decision against at the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh sends Tom Gorzelanny (0-1, 10.80) to the mound. The lefthander, who has not won in his last six starts dating to last season, was roughed up for seven runs in 2 1/3 innings while not factoring in the decision against the Chicago Cubs on Monday.

Gorzelanny is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two career starts against Cincinnati.

On Saturday, Nate McLouth extended his league-leading hits total to 21 with two, including an RBI single in the sixth inning that snapped a tie and lifted the Pirates to a 4-3 triumph over the Reds.
