Ramirez, Marlins seek to regain offensive form

Apr 13, 2008 - 1:25 PM Florida (7-4) at Houston (4-8) 2:05 pm EDT

HOUSTON (Ticker) - Hanley Ramirez and the Florida Marlins look to get their offense back on track Sunday in the finale of a three-game series with the Houston Astros.

One night after hitting a franchise-record six home runs, the Marlins went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position in Saturday's 5-0 loss.

Florida, which posted a 10-6 series-opening win on Friday, had its four-game winning streak snapped.

Ramirez also has enjoyed facing the Astros. The talented shortstop is a .403 (25-for-62) career hitter with five homers and 13 RBI in 14 career games against Houston.

The Marlins have surprised many by hitting the second-most homers (20) in the majors despite the absence of Miguel Cabrera, who was traded to Detroit in the offseason.

Florida will get a look at Burke Badenhop (0-0, 0.00 ERA), who was acquired from the Tigers in the deal for Cabrera. The righthander, who threw two scoreless innings in relief on Wednesday, will be making his first career start.

Houston will counter with Wandy Rodriguez (0-0, 2.92). The lefthander allowed just three hits in 7 1/3 innings of a 5-3 victory over St. Louis on Monday.
