Red Sox aim for fourth straight win

CLEVELAND (Ticker) - The Boston Red Sox aim for a sweep of their two-game series against the Cleveland Indians in Tuesday's finale.

Former Indian Manny Ramirez delivered a two-run homer in the ninth inning and David Ortiz had two hits as Boston defeated Cleveland, 6-4, on Monday for the club's third consecutive win.

"It was right there," Ramirez said. "It seemed like a fastball or something. It was 80 (mph), so it might have been a changeup."

Boston gives the ball to Tim Wakefield (1-0, 3.27 ERA), who had his knuckleball dancing in a win against the Detroit Tigers his last time out. Wakefield gave up just one earned run and three hits with five strikeouts in five innings of work on Thursday.

The righthander has nine wins with a 4.50 ERA through 23 career meetings against the Indians.

Cleveland starter Paul Byrd (0-2, 11.05) hopes to put his last two trips to the hill behind him. Bryd was rocked for six runs and five hits in three frames of a loss to Anaheim in his last start.

The righthander owns a respectable 4-2 mark with a 4.12 ERA against the defending World Series champion Red Sox over seven lifetime appearances.
