Wright, Reyes look for encore vs. Nationals

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) - David Wright aims to build on one of the best performances of his career on Wednesday as the New York Mets continue a three-game series with the Washington Nationals.

New York took the series opener, 6-0, on Tuesday behind Wright's five RBI performance and seven scoreless innings from Mike Pelfrey.

Wright, who fell one RBI shy of his career high, blasted a two-run homer in the first and doubled home runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Wright was not the lone Met to have a huge night.

Jose Reyes returned from a left hamstring injury and finished a home run shy of a cycle.

Wright and Reyes will look for more success vs. Nationals' lefthander Matt Chico.

Chico (0-2, 3.72 ERA) was a tough luck loser on Friday, as he allowed just one run and five hits in eight innings of a 3-0 setback to Atlanta.

He will be opposed by John Maine (0-1, 4.50), who has not had as good a start as last season.

Maine started out 2007 by winning his first six decisions, but is still looking for his first victory this season. The righthander yielded one run and five hits in six innings of a 4-3 win over Philadelphia on Thursday.
