Ramirez, Ortiz take aim at Millwood, Rangers

BOSTON (Ticker) - With David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez finally combining to drive in runs, the Boston Red Sox are proving to be quite a challenge.

The Red Sox will be looking for their fourth straight win when they host the Texas Rangers on Sunday.

While Ramirez has been hot most of the season, Ortiz finally found his stroke this weekend. Entering Friday's game with just four RBI this season, Ortiz has six in the first two games of the series, including a grand slam Friday.

After Ortiz tied Saturday's game at 3-3 with an RBI single, Ramirez followed with his 496th career homer to provide the winning margin.

Boston will send Tim Wakefield (1-0, 3.18 ERA) to the hill on Sunday. The veteran knuckleballer has yet to allow more than three runs in a start this season, despite issuing at least three walks in each outing.

Wakefield has had no problem adjusting to catcher Kevin Cash, who is spending his first season as the righthander's personal catcher after Doug Mirabelli was let go during spring training.

The Rangers will counter with ace Kevin Millwood (1-2, 2.42). The righthander is coming off his worst outing of the season on Tuesday when he allowed four runs and nine hits in five innings against the Angels but did not factor in the decision.

Millwood started off the season strong, allowing just three earned runs over 21 innings in his first three starts, but earned just one win as Texas scored six total runs.

Ortiz is 6-for-12 with three homers and seven RBI in his career against Millwood.
