Final/10
Brewers go for fouth straight win vs. Reds
Apr 20, 2008 - 2:30 PM Milwaukee (11-6) at Cincinnati (7-11) 1:15 pm EDTCINCINNATI (Ticker) - The Milwaukee Brewers aren't making it easy on themselves, but a win is a win.
The Brewers will go for their four straight win and a clean sweep Sunday when they welcome back Yovani Gallardo and visit the Cincinnati Reds.
Milwaukee has won in the 10th inning twice in the past three games, with Prince Fielder clubbing his first homer of the season for a 5-3 win on Thursday and Bill Hall driving home a pair with a double on Saturday.
Hall finished with three RBI Saturday and Corey Hart hit his first homer of the season in support of starter Jeff Suppan, who allowed three hits and two runs in 6 2/3 innings before Brian Shouse came on and blew the save.
In Friday night's win, ace Ben Sheets pitched six strong innings before leaving with tightness in his right triceps.
With Sheets possibly down for a stretch, the Brewers can at least celebrate the return of Gallardo, who has been out since the spring after having surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
The 22-year-old righthander went 9-5 with a 3.67 ERA in his 2007 rookie campaign, including a win over the Reds on July 24, and is seen as a future frontline starter for the club.
Gallardo will be backed up by closer Eric Gagne, who has been surprisingly solid of late, saving each of the last three wins. The much-maligned closer has not been scored upon in his last five outings after allowing four runs and blowing two saves in his first three appearances this season.
Cincinnati will send staff ace Aaron Harang (1-2, 3.33 ERA) to the mound. The righthander got knocked around in his last start, surrendering five runs and eight hits in six innings while walking two and striking out a pair to suffer a loss in Tuesday's 9-5 setback against the Chicago Cubs.
He picked up a win over the Brewers on April 10, allowing just one run in eight frames.
