Holliday, Rockies start short series with Phillies

DENVER (Ticker) -- Matt Holliday and the Colorado Rockies on Monday will kick off a four-game homestand with a brief two-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Holliday went 3-for-5 and scored a run Sunday but the Rockies had a four-game winning streak snapped with a 6-4 setback to the Houston Astros.

The reigning National League batting champion, Holliday is batting .333 with three home runs, 11 RBI and three stolen bases this season.

Looking for a fifth win in six games, Colorado will send veteran lefthander Mark Redman (2-1, 4.60 ERA) to the mound.

Redman is looking for his third straight win after yielding two runs over five innings in Wednesday's 10-2 rout of the San Diego Padres.

The Phillies will counter with youngster Kyle Kendrick (1-2, 4.40), who is trying to avoid a third straight defeat. The 23-year-old righthander allowed just two runs over seven frames in his last start but Philadelphia still lost to the Astros, 2-1, on Wednesday.

Chase Utley homered twice Sunday as the Phillies edged the rival New York Mets, 5-4. Utley, who had also homered in the previous three games, is batting .351 with a league-leading eight blasts this season.
