Hernandez, Mariners host Orioles
Apr 22, 2008 - 1:15 PM Baltimore (11-7) at Seattle (10-10) 10:10 pm EDTSEATTLE (Ticker) - The Seattle Mariners aim for some payback when they open a three-game series at home against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.
The Mariners were swept in a four-game set in Baltimore from April 4-7, despite losing the four contests by a combined seven runs.
Seattle ace Felix Hernandez (2-0, 1.47 ERA) will look to get the Mariners' first win against the Orioles this season when he takes the mound.
Hernandez is coming off a complete game Wednesday, allowing two runs - one earned - and eight hits with eight strikeouts.
The young righthander pitched against the Orioles in the first series, leaving with a 2-0 lead after eight innings, only to have Baltimore rally for a 3-2 win in the bottom of the ninth.
Baltimore, which had a three-game winning streak snapped with a 7-1 defeat to New York on Sunday, will send Adam Loewen to the hill.
Loewen (0-1, 6.32) lost his last start, allowing three runs and six hits with five walks in a 3-1 defeat to Chicago last Wednesday.
The lefthander is 0-1 in two games - one start - with a 7.11 ERA against Seattle in his career.
