Dodgers try to build momentum against Reds

CINCINNATI (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Dodgers are struggling to score runs consistently.

The Dodgers try to build momentum when they conclude a two-game series against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.

Los Angeles scored 19 runs over its final two games against the Pittsburgh Pirates to claim a three-game series last week. However, the Dodgers managed just one run in each of their three losses against the Atlanta Braves this weekend.

Los Angeles responded on Monday, tying a season-high with 15 hits en route to a 9-3 drubbing against the Reds.

Nomar Garciaparra, who batted third in the lineup for the first time this season, led the way for the Dodgers, blasting his first home run of the new campaign while adding three RBI.

Los Angeles will try to keep the offense going against Reds starter Edinson Volquez (2-0, 1.17 ERA), who allowed just one run and four hits while picking up the win in Thursday's 9-2 victory against the Chicago Cubs.

Lefthander Hong-Chih Kuo (0-0, 0.79 ERA) counters for the Dodgers and is still seeking his first win despite allowing just one earned run in 11 1/3 innings this season.
