Twins aim for fourth straight win

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - Boof Bonser aims to bounce back from his worst start of the season on Wednesday as the Minnesota Twins continue a three-game series with the Oakland Athletics.

Craig Monroe homered and Jason Kubel hit an RBI single in the eighth inning as the Twins posted a 5-4 victory in the series opener on Tuesday.

The Twins will try for a fourth straight win behind Bonser (1-3, 4.70 ERA), who was rocked for seven runs - six earned - and seven hits in four innings of a 7-3 loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday.

Prior to that rocky start, the righthander had allowed just six runs in his last 20 innings.

Oakland will counter with Chad Gaudin (1-1, 4.76), who opened the season on the disabled list after having hip and foot surgeries in the offseason. Gaudin was rocked for nine runs in 10 innings in his first two starts.

The righthander bounced back nicely, as he allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings of a 13-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
