Tejada, Astros seek fourth straight win
Apr 23, 2008 - 1:34 PM Houston (9-12) at Cincinnati (9-12) 7:10 pm EDTCINCINNATI (Ticker) - Miguel Tejada may be a bit older, but he isn't slowing down.
Tejada looks to remain red-hot on Wednesday as the Houston Astros visit the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a two-game series.
It was revealed last week that Tejada lied about his age when he signed with the Oakland Athletics in 1993, and is really 33 years-old rather than 31. However, Tejada has responded by playing as if he were 25-years-old.
The former American League MVP posted his second straight four-hit game on Tuesday, and drove in three runs as the Astros rolled to an 11-7 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Tejada, who had four hits and a home run in Monday's 10-3 victory over the Padres, will try and help the Astros extend their season-high three-game winning streak.
Tejada's Astros may not get much resistance from Reds' starter Bronson Arroyo, who has struggled mightily in the season's first month.
Arroyo (0-2, 5.48 ERA) has lost nine straight starts in April, dating to last season. The righthander surrendered five runs - four earned - and eight hits in Friday's 5-2 setback to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Houston will counter with Chris Sampson (0-2, 8.74 ERA), who is coming off the worst start of his career. Sampson allowed six runs and six hits in just two-thirds of an inning in Friday's 11-5 loss to the Colorado Rockies.
