Giants' Lincecum looks to stay unbeaten

Apr 24, 2008 - 2:14 PM San Francisco (9-13) at San Diego (9-13) 10:05 pm EDT

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) - Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants look to sweep the San Diego Padres on Thursday when the teams conclude a brief two-game series.

The 23-year-old righthander posted a 7-5 record with a 4.00 ERA in 24 starts during his rookie season in 2007.

Lincecum (3-0, 1.57 ERA) has yet to suffer a loss this campaign and had his best outing of 2008 during his last start on Saturday.

The hard-throwing Washington native pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just six hits while walking three and striking out five en route to a 3-0 victory against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Chris Young (1-1, 4.57) counters for the Padres seeking his first win since his first start of the season.

The 6-10 righthander surrendered just two runs and three hits in six innings, but did not factor in the decision as San Diego suffered a 10-3 setback to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.
