Lee, Cubs meet Nationals in rubber match
Apr 27, 2008 - 1:41 PM Chicago Cubs (16-8) at Washington (8-17) 1:35 pm EDTWASHINGTON (Ticker) - Red-hot Derrek Lee and the Chicago Cubs will square off against the Washington Nationals on Sunday in the finale of a three-game series.
Lee drove in three runs and Mark DeRosa added a pair of RBI to lead the Cubs to a 7-0 victory over the Nationals on Saturday. Chicago had lost two straight following a six-game winning streak.
The 32-year-old Lee is batting .366 with a seven home runs and 21 RBI this season.
The Cubs will send Ted Lilly (1-3, 7.30 ERA) to the mound. The lefthander is coming off his first win of the season, allowing a run and four hits with four walks and four strikeouts over six innings during Tuesday's 8-1 triumph over the New York Mets.
Washington will counter with lefthander John Lannan (1-2, 3.42), who pitched seven strong innings in a 6-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. The 23-year-old gave up five hits and three walks while striking out four.
The Nationals have not won a three-game series since taking two in Philadelphia at the beginning of the season.
