Rodriguez, Posada out when Yankees return home

BRONX, New York (Ticker) - The New York Yankees are happy to be home despite injuries to two of their biggest stars.

Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez won't be in the lineup on Tuesday when the Yankees return home to open a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers.

New York has played 18 of its last 20 games away from Yankee Stadium, including a 10-game road trip which concluded with a 5-2 victory against the Cleveland Indians.

Rodriguez, who has been playing through a sore right quadriceps, scored a run and added an RBI during on Monday before leaving in the eighth inning after feeling a "pull" in his injured leg while running the bases.

The reigning American League MVP is not expected to play on Tuesday and will likely be out until he is back to 100 percent.

"It's hard for me not to play 100 percent," Rodriguez said. "The key for me is to get healthy."

Joining Rodriguez on the bench is Jorge Posada, who was placed on the disabled list Monday for the first time in his 14-year career with a nagging right shoulder injury suffered during spring training.

Phil Hughes (0-3, 7.85 ERA) toes the rubber for the Yankees in the series opener and is opposed by Tigers lefthander Kenny Rogers (1-3, 7.66).
