Marlins hope Hendrickson can end three-game skid

May 2, 2008 - 1:41 PM San Diego (11-18) at Florida (15-13) 7:10 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) - Mark Hendrickson and the Florida Marlins will try and snap a three-game losing streak on Friday when they host the San Diego Padres.

The Marlins' Kevin Gregg blew his second save of the season on Thursday, as Matt Kemp singled home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-3 victory.

Florida, which surprised many with its fast start, fell out of first place in the National League East.

Hendrickson (4-1, 3.68 ERA) has been a huge reason for the Marlins strong start, and he will try and help them get back on track. The 6-9 righthander is unbeaten in his last five starts.

Hendrickson allowed three runs - two earned - and five hits in six innings of a 4-3 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Padres have lost 10 of 12 and are hitting a National League-low .228.

Justin Germano (0-2, 6.04) may not be the right pitcher to help the Padres break out of their funk. Germano has allowed 16 runs and 16 hits in his last 8 1/3 innings.
