Rangers' Murray set for season debut vs. A's

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - Rookie lefthander A.J. Murray makes his season debut when the Texas Rangers go for a season-high fourth straight win against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.

Murray has posted a 2-0 record with a 4.18 ERA in six outings with Class AAA Oklahoma of the Pacific Coast League this season. He was recalled on Friday after righthander Jason Jennings was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained right elbow.

Jennings is just the latest Rangers' stater to be bitten by the injury bug. Lefthander Kason Gabbard continues to sit out with a sore back and his replacement, righthander Luis Mendoza, also is on the DL with right shoulder inflammation.

Murray went 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 14 games - two starts - with the Rangers last season, striking out 18 in 28 innings. However, he struggled against the Athletics in a trio of relief appearances, allowing five runs and eight hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Chad Gaudin (3-1, 3.00 ERA) takes the mound for Oakland in search of his fourth straight win. He allowed just two runs - one earned - and five hits in six innings during Monday's 14-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
