Nationals aim for third straight series win

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Nationals aim for a third straight series win on Sunday as they wrap up a four-game set with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Cristian Guzman hit a tie-breaking, three-run double and tied a career high with six RBI to lead the Nationals to a 9-8 victory on Saturday.

The Nationals rebounded from Friday's 11-4 loss, and are the verge of winning a third straight series for the first time since June 2-11, 2006.

Washington, which has won seven of nine games, sends Tim Redding (3-2, 3.55 ERA) to the mound.

Redding is winless in his last two starts after beginning the year by winning three of his first four outings. On Tuesday, he allowed two runs and four hits in six innings but did not factor into the decision of a 6-3 victory over Atlanta.

Pittsburgh, which has lost seven of nine, will counter with struggling ace Ian Snell (2-1, 4.93 ERA). Snell allowed four runs and five hits in a season-low 4 1/3 innings of a 5-4 extra-inning loss to the New York Mets on Tuesday.

The righthander has allowed eight runs and nine walks in his last 10 1/3 innings.
