Phillies looking to keep rolling without Rollins

PHOENIX (Ticker) - Even without the reigning National League MVP in the lineup, the Philadelphia Phillies have still climbed their way to the top of the NL East Division.

The Phillies will seek their third consecutive victory Tuesday when they face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second of a four-game series.

Still playing without star shortstop Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard drove in a pair of runs and the potent Philadelphia offense belted out a season-high 17 hits Monday en route to an 11-4 triumph over the Diamondbacks.

The news might be getting better for the Phillies as Rollins showed that he might be ready to return fairly soon. He went 4-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI on Monday in a rehab assignment.

Looking for its fifth win in six games, Philadelphia will send righthander Adam Eaton (0-0, 4.72 ERA) to the mound. He gave up two runs and five hits over six innings during Thursday's 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Despite not receiving a decision yet this season, the Phillies have been victorious the last four times the 30-year-old has taken the hill.

Arizona will counter with lefthander Randy Johnson (1-1, 4.79), who is 15 wins shy of 300 for his career.

The future Hall of Famer was roughed up for six runs and nine hits with two strikeouts over four frames in Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Houston Astros.
