Brewers hope to end skid vs. Marlins
May 7, 2008 - 12:24 PM Milwaukee (16-16) at Florida (18-14) 7:10 pm EDTMIAMI (Ticker) - The Milwaukee Brewers try to avoid a fifth straight loss as they face the Florida Marlins on Wednesday in the middle contest of a three-game series.
Mike Jacobs hit a two-run homer and Luis Gonzalez tied a career high with four hits Tuesday as the Marlins recorded a 3-0 victory over the Brewers. It was the second time Milwaukee was shutout this season with the other also coming against Florida.
Seeking a third straight win, the Marlins will send rookie Burke Badenhop (0-2, 7.20 ERA) to the mound. The 25-year-old righthander is making just his fifth career start.
Badenhop tossed six innings in his last outing, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts during Thursday's 5-3 setback to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He will be opposed by Dave Bush (0-3, 6.46), who is coming off a one-inning relief appearance. After starter Manny Parra lasted just four frames in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Houston Astros, Bush pitched a scoreless inning. He allowed a hit and struck out one.
The Brewers' potent offense managed just two hits in Tuesday's loss.
