RHP Cabrera looks to end Orioles five-game slide
May 8, 2008 - 3:09 PM Baltimore (16-18) at Kansas City (15-18) 8:10 pm EDTKANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - The Baltimore Orioles look to snap their season-high five-game losing streak Thursday, when the visit the Kansas City Royals in the opener of a four-game series.
After posting a solid first month with a 15-11 record, Baltimore has struggled in May with just one victory in its last seven games.
The Orioles start Daniel Cabrera (2-1, 4.06 ERA), who was effective in his last outing, allowing three runs and six hits with six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings. He still came out on the short end of a 3-1 loss to Anaheim on Saturday.
The 26-year-old righthander has dominated Kansas City in his brief four-year career, posting a 3-0 record with a 2.57 ERA in six career starts against the Royals.
Luke Hochevar (2-1, 4.86) gets the start for Kansas City. He gave up two runs and three hits while fanning six batters in six innings for his second win in as many starts in with Saturday's 4-2 win against Cleveland.
The rookie righthander will be making his first career appearance against the Orioles.
