The Rockies and Padres aim to turn the corner on their early struggles when they open a three-game series on Friday.
Colorado has won back-to-back games following a 2-9 stretch. The consecutive victories are the Rockies first since putting together a four-game win streak from April 16-19.
Cook (5-1, 2.40 ERA) has been the one bright spot for the Rockies and goes for his sixth win in as many starts on Friday.
The 29-year-old righthander allowed just two runs, nine hits while striking out two in 7 2/3 innings to lead Colorado to a 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Padres have lost four straight contests and posted just a 2-7 record on their recent nine-game road trip.
The reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, Peavy (4-1, 2.22) has carried his dominance into 2008.
The 26-year-old righthander surrendered just two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings en route to a 7-2 victory over the Florida Marlins on Saturday.
