Mets RHP Maine seeks fourth straight win
May 13, 2008 - 1:31 PM Washington (16-23) at NY Mets (19-17) 7:10 pm EDTFLUSHING, New York (Ticker) - Aside from Johan Santana, John Maine has been the New York Mets' most reliable starter thus far.
Maine takes the hill on Tuesday looking for a fourth straight win as the Mets continue a four-game series with the Washington Nationals.
The 26-year-old righthander gave the Mets' their longest outing of the season on Wednesday, as he allowed one run and four hits in 8 1/3 innings of a 12-1 victory over Los Angeles.
Maine (4-2, 3.00 ERA) will try to help New York bounce back from a 10-4 loss in Monday's opener.
Lastings Milledge had a two-run double in a four-run sixth, leading the Nationals to a win over his former team.
"It's good to come here and do some damage," Milledge said. "Don't get me wrong. I try to do damage wherever I go."
The Nationals, who snapped a three-game skid, will send John Lannan (3-3, 3.40) to the hill. Lannan allowed one run and seven hits in six innings of a 8-3 victory over Houston on Wednesday.
