Rockies look to snap five-game skid
May 16, 2008 - 2:29 PM Minnesota (20-20) at Colorado (15-26) 9:05 pm EDTDENVER (Ticker) - The reigning National League champion Colorado Rockies need to turn things around if they hope to return to the World Series.
The Rockies will try to end their five-game losing streak in the opener of a three-game interleague series against the the Minnesota Twins on Friday.
After last season's magical run, which ended with its first trip to the "Fall Classic," Colorado has struggled this season and is just 7-10 here.
The Rockies send Ubaldo Jimenez (1-3, 5.53 ERA) to the mound with the hopes that the righthander can finally break through for his first win since April 8. He will be making his first start against the Rockies.
On Saturday, Jimenez allowed three runs and five hits with a season-best 11 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of a 3-2 loss at San Diego.
Minnesota rookie Nick Blackburn (3-2, 3.93) aims for back-to-back wins after giving up four runs through six innings of a 9-8 win over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
