Hudson, Braves look to continue home success
May 17, 2008 - 3:13 PM Oakland (23-20) at Atlanta (21-20), 7:10 pm EDTATLANTA (Ticker) -- Tim Hudson looks to lead the Atlanta Braves to their ninth consecutive win at Turner Field when they continue their three-game interleague series against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.
The Braves are a major league-best 15-4 at home this season and Hudson (6-2, 2.54 ERA) is a big reason why. The righthander is 4-0 with a 1.88 ERA in four starts at Turner Field this season.
A former Athletic, the 32-year-old Hudson will be making his first career start against his old club.
Hudson also has pitched well on the road, tossing seven stellar innings in Monday's 8-1 triumph at Pittsburgh. He allowed an unearned run and just two hits with five strikeouts.
He will be opposed by Rich Harden (1-0, 3.68), who is making his second start since coming off the disabled list with a muscle strain under his right shoulder blade.
Harden was tagged up for five runs and eight hits over just 3 2/3 frames in Sunday's 12-6 victory over the Texas Rangers.
Mark Kotsay beat his old club with an RBI double and Chipper Jones singled twice and scored the game-winning run to lead the Braves to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the struggling Athletics on Friday. It was Oakland's fourth straight loss.
