Braves' Glavine faces former team for first time

ATLANTA (Ticker) - Tom Glavine takes on his former team for the first time when he starts for the Atlanta Braves in Game One of a doubleheader against the New York Mets on Tuesday.

After spending the last five campaigns as a member of the Mets, Glavine (1-1, 4.41 ERA) signed a one-year, $8 million contract this offseason to join the Braves - the team he played his first 16 seasons with.

The 42-year-old lefthander allowed four runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings during Wednesday's 8-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies to claim his first win with Atlanta since the 2002 season.

John Maine (5-2, 2.81) counters for the Mets, who are seeking their third straight victory after winning both games of a rain-shortened interleague series against the New York Yankees over the weekend.

Maine surrendered just two runs - one earned - and two hits in six innings on Tuesday to lead New York to a 6-3 victory over the Washington Nationals. The 27-year-old righthander walked just one while striking out five en route to his fourth win in as many starts.
