Winn helping Giants overcome struggles at Coors Field
May 21, 2008 - 12:05 PM San Francisco (18-29) at Colorado (18-28) 3:05 pm EDTDENVER (Ticker) - The San Francisco Giants have had little success at Coors Field but Randy Winn is helping them overcome their struggles.
The Giants go for a second straight win when they conclude a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.
Winn had a double to extend his hitting streak to a league-best 15 consecutive games and scored a pair of runs on Tuesday as San Francisco ended a six-game losing streak by forging a narrow 6-5 victory over the Rockies.
The 33-year-old right fielder is hitting .384 this month and has the Giants poised to win back-to-back games on Wednesday for just the second time in May. A victory also would allow the team to claim its first series victory at Coors Field since the 2005 season.
Jonathan Sanchez (2-3, 4.59 ERA) tries to earn his first win since April 25 when he takes the mound for San Francisco.
The 25-year-old lefthander allowed just two runs and five hits in 6 2/3 innings, walking three while striking out six but suffered a tough loss during Friday's 2-0 setback to the Chicago White Sox.
Ubaldo Jimenez (1-4, 5.29) counters for the Rockies, who have lost each of the last seven games the 24-year-old righthander has started.
