Blue Jays aim to rebound vs. Angels
May 21, 2008 - 1:12 PM LA Angels (27-20) at Toronto (23-24) 7:07 pm EDTTORONTO (Ticker) - The Toronto Blue Jays look to bounce back in the second of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Wednesday.
In Tuesday's series opener, John Lackey tossed seven outstanding innings en route to a 3-1 victory for the Angels.
Toronto turns to Shaun Marcum (4-2, 2.50 ERA), who pitched just one inning Sunday in a no-decision at Philadelphia due to a four-hour rain delay.
In his last outing prior to that, the righthander was on top of his game, tossing eight scoreless frames for a 3-0 win at Cleveland on May 12.
Marcum seeks his third consecutive win over Anaheim, which has managed just three runs through 13 frames over two career games against the 26-year-old.
Jon Garland (4-3, 4.32) gets the call for the Angels, who own an American League-best 13-9 road mark.
A visit to Toronto could be just what the righthander needs, as he owns an impressive 9-2 record with a 4.15 ERA in 15 lifetime meetings against the Blue Jays. He is also undefeated in five appearances at the Rogers Centre.
