Pence, Astros set to host Phillies

HOUSTON (Ticker) - Hunter Pence will look to build off his third career multi-homer performance when the Houston Astros host the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday in the third contest of a four-game series.

Pence blasted a pair of solo home runs and made a solid defensive play in the ninth inning as the Astros held on for a 4-3 victory over the Phillies on Friday.

The 25-year-old Pence, who homered in the fifth and seventh frames, alertly cut off Jimmy Rollins' double before it rolled to the wall and held the game's potential tying run - speedy Eric Bruntlett - on third in the process.

Jose Valverde, who had a line drive glance of his head earlier in the frame, then collecting his 15th save by retiring Shane Victorino to end the game.

Brett Myers (2-5, 5.76 ERA) will take the mound for Philadelphia, which had won its previous three contests. The righthander gave up three runs and eight hits in six innings, suffering his third loss in as many starts during Monday's 4-0 setback to the Washington Nationals.

He will be opposed by Brian Moehler (1-1, 4.76 ERA), who allowed three runs and seven hits over five frames in Monday's 7-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs.
