Lee attempts to snap Indians' seven-game slide
May 24, 2008 - 1:35 PM Texas (25-25) at Cleveland (22-26) 7:05 pm EDTCLEVELAND (Ticker) - Cliff Lee looks to rebound from his first loss in eight starts and halt his club's seven-game slide on Saturday when the Cleveland Indians continue a three-game set with the high-scoring Texas Rangers.
Even with its offensive outburst in Friday's 13-9 series-opening setback against Texas, Cleveland has failed to score more than three runs in 26 of its 48 games.
The struggles have been even more pronounced recently as Friday marked the first time in 12 games the Indians scored more than four runs in a contest.
However, overcoming struggles is nothing new to Lee (6-1, 1.37 ERA), who leads the American League in ERA one season after enduring a tumultuous 2007.
He missed the first month of last season due to injury only to get sent to the minors two months later due to ineffectiveness. Lee finished the campaign 5-8 with a 6.29 ERA.
Lee will also need to overcome his worst start of the season in order to get the Indians that elusive win. He surrendered six runs - five earned - and 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings during Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
His opponent will be Scott Feldman (1-1, 4.10), who allowed five runs and seven hits over six innings during a 7-6 loss to Minnesota on Monday.
