Giants eye fourth straight win

May 24, 2008 - 1:41 PM San Francisco (20-29) at Florida (27-20) 7:10 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) - The San Francisco Giants go for a season-high fourth straight win on Saturday when they continue a three-game series against the Florida Marlins.

Barry Zito earned his first win of the season and Bengie Molina and Aaron Rowand belted back-to-back home runs on Friday as the Giants posted an 8-2 victory over the Marlins.

Though it came in a loss, Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla tied the club record for most home runs in a month, stroking his 11th of May in the ninth inning. Uggla matches the mark set by Gary Sheffield in April 1996 and now has 15 homers this season.

Uggla has a good chance to surpass Sheffield on Saturday when he faces Giants starter Matt Cain (2-3, 4.57 ERA), who gave up four home runs during his last start.

Cain allowed six runs in seven innings while walking three and striking out six, completely falling apart after not surrendering a hit during his first 4 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old righthander did not factor in the decision as San Francisco rallied for a 13-8 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Burke Badenhop (1-3, 6.75) tries to bounce back from a dismal outing when he counters for the Marlins.

The rookie righthander was pounded for six runs - five earned - and seven hits in only three innings, suffering the loss during Sunday's 9-3 setback to the Kansas City Royals.
