McGowan hopes to keep the Blue Jays rolling

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Dustin McGowan takes the mound Sunday when the Toronto Blue Jays host the Kansas City Royals in the third contest of a four-game series.

Toronto's bullpen will be plenty rested for McGowan (2-4, 4.21 ERA) after Roy Halladay and Jesse Litsch tossed back-to-back complete games in the first two contests of this series.

Both received plenty of run support as Toronto outscored Kansas City by a 13-1 margin over that stretch. Brad Wilkerson hit a first-inning grand slam in support of Litsch on Saturday as the Blue Jays cruised to a 6-0 win.

McGowan is hoping to avoid his third straight loss. The righthander gave up three runs - two earned - over 6 1/3 frames in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Kansas City will aim to avoid matching a season high with its seventh straight loss. The Royals give the ball to Gil Meche (3-6, 5.58), who yielding two runs with a season-high eight strikeouts in Tuesday's 2-1 setback to the Boston Red Sox.
