Blue Jays go for sweep of struggling Royals

May 26, 2008 - 1:16 PM Kansas City (21-29) at Toronto (27-25) 12:37 pm EDT

TORONTO (Ticker) - The Toronto Blue Jays look to complete a four-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

Toronto, which has won four straight and 10 of its last 13 games, has outscored Kansas City, 16-2, over the first three games.

Roy Halladay and Jesse Litsch threw complete games on Friday and Saturday, respectively, and Dustin McGowan earned the win with seven strong innings on Sunday.

Shaun Marcum (4-3, 2.80 ERA) looks to continue Toronto's recent pitching dominance when he takes the hill. The righthander suffered the loss in his last start, allowing four runs in six innings during a 4-3 setback to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Wednesday.

The Royals are hoping to avoid their second straight four-game series sweep after dropping four consecutive games to Boston last week.

Veteran righthander Brett Tomko (2-5, 5.76) hopes to turn things around for Kansas City when he takes the mound. Tomko suffered the loss in his last outing, surrendering five runs over 4 1/3 innings in a 6-3 setback to Boston on Wednesday.

With a win, Toronto would go three games above .500 for the first time this season.
