Braves hope home success translates to road
May 27, 2008 - 12:45 PM Atlanta (28-23) at Milwaukee (24-27) 8:05 pm EDTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) - The Atlanta Braves own the best home record in the National League this season. Unfortunately, they also own the worst road record.
Atlanta looks to take a step toward changing that Tuesday when they open up a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Braves finished an 8-3 homestand by knocking around Brandon Webb on Monday in a 7-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Webb allowed seven runs - four earned - and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Tim Hudson (7-3, 2.98 ERA) takes the hill for the Braves looking to build on his last start. The veteran righthander outdueled Johan Santana of the New York Mets on Thursday, giving up two runs and seven hits over eight innings during Atlanta's 4-2 victory.
Milwaukee went 4-6 on a 10-game road trip and is opening up a nine-game homestand. The Brewers defeated the Washington Nationals, 4-3, in 11 innings on Monday on Gabe Kapler's RBI single.
Dave Bush (1-5, 6.56) will get the call for the Brewers.
The 28-year-old righthander has not made it past six innings in any of his starts this season and suffered the loss in Milwaukee's 8-4 victory at Pittsburgh on Thursday. Bush allowed six runs and nine hits in five innings.
