Haren aims to follow Webb's lead

Jun 1, 2008 - 1:16 PM Washington (24-33) at Arizona (31-25)

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Brandon Webb broke out of his funk. Now Dan Haren will try and do the same.

Haren looks to snap a personal two-game skid on Sunday when the Arizona Diamondbacks try and take the rubber game of a three-game series with the Washington Nationals.

Webb snapped his two-game skid in dominating fashion as he allowed just six hits and registered his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory on Saturday.

Haren (5-4, 3.75 ERA) will look to follow suit. The righthander has allowed nine runs and 17 hits in his last 12 1/3 innings. Haren was reached for five runs and nine hits in six innings of a 6-3 loss to San Francisco on Tuesday.

Prior to this rough stretch Haren had allowed three runs or less in each of his first eight starts. Chances are Haren will get back on track against Washington, which is last in baseball with a .233 team average.

Shawn Hill (0-1, 4.02) gets the ball for Washington. Hill, who opened the season on the disabled list with an elbow injury, is seeking his first win since September 10 of last season.
