Lackey, sizzling Angels face red-hot Athletics

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- John Lackey and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim aim for their season-high sixth win when they face the rival Oakland Athletics on Friday.

Anaheim defeated Seattle, 5-4, on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep of the Mariners and secure their fifth consecutive victory.

With the best record in the American League, Anaheim sends Lackey (1-1, 1.80) to the mound for just his fifth start since missing six weeks due to a triceps strain. The righthander is 6-1 with a 1.87 over his last eight starts against the Athletics.

However, the visitors will face an A's club that has won four straight.

Oakland looks to Joe Blanton (3-7, 4.27), who has won once in his last six starts. Blanton hasn't faced the Angels this season, but was 3-0 with a 3.08 ERA against them in 2007.
