Webb aims to remain unbeaten vs. Pirates
Jun 6, 2008 - 1:36 PM Arizona (32-28) at Pittsburgh (29-31) 7:05 pm EDTPITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Ace Brandon Webb looks to continue his dominance over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday when the Arizona Diamondbacks pay a visit to PNC Park for first of a four-game series.
The 29-year-old Webb (10-2, 2.96 ERA) has yet to taste defeat when facing the Pirates, posting a 3-0 record with a 2.70 ERA through four career starts. He hasn't faced Pittsburgh since a 7-4 win here on May 10, 2006.
After dropping two straight starts, the righthander bounced back in impressive fashion to blank the Washington Nationals with a six-hitter for his eight career shutout last Saturday, 4-0.
Despite the presence of Webb, the Diamondbacks have struggled on the road of late, losing 11 of their last 13 games. Webb will look to change that as he owns a 4-2 mark away from Chase Field this season.
Ian Snell (2-5, 5.94) takes the hill for the Pirates, who won two of three from the Houston Astros during their first series of a 10-game homestand.
Life hasn't been too exciting for Snell of late, as the righthander has lost his last three starts to remain winless since beating Cincinnati on April 12. Most recently, Snell gave up six runs in four innings of a 7-4 setback at St. Louis on Sunday.
A visit from Arizona could be just what Snell needs, as he's 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA in four lifetime starts vs. the National League West club.
