Diamondbacks look for third straight win vs. Pirates

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks will look for their third consecutive victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday in the third contest of a four-game series.

Chris Snyder belted a go-ahead homer in the top of the ninth inning and threw out the potential-tying

run at second base in the bottom of the frame as the Diamondbacks edged the Pirates, 4-3, on Saturday.

Conor Jackson, Chris Young and Mark Reynolds each drove in a run in first inning for the Diamondbacks, who blew a three-run advantage but recovered to secure their second straight win in the four-game set.

Hoping to avoid its third straight defeat, Pittsburgh will send lefthander Phil Dumatrait (2-3, 3.47 ERA) to the mound.

Dumatrait failed to get any run support in his last outing - a 2-0 setback to the Houston Astros on Tuesday. He yielded two runs and seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts over six innings.

Arizona will counter with lefthander Doug Davis (2-2, 3.90), who did not receive a decision in his last start. He gave up three runs - one earned - over six frames in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Since returning on cancer on May 23, Davis is 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA.
