Martin, Dodgers go for third straight win

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Russell Martin and the Los Angels Dodgers will seek their third consecutive victory Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the finale of a four-game series.

After the teams split the first two games of the series, Martin had three hits with a home run and three RBI to lead the Dodgers to a 7-3 triumph on Saturday.

Martin is batting .316 with five home runs and 26 RBI on the season.

The Cubs hope righthander Jason Marquis (3-3, 5.02 ERA) can help them avoid a third straight defeat. He is looking to win his third consecutive decision.

The 29-year-old Marquis lasted just five frames in his last outing but Chicago still recorded a 9-6 victory over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. He gave up three runs on four hits and five walks with two strikeouts.

He will be opposed by ace Brad Penny (5-7, 5.45), who allowed two runs and six hits with four walks and five strikeouts over six innings during Tuesday's 3-0 setback to the Colorado Rockies.

The 30-year-old Penny has lost his last five decisions, failing to pick up a win since May 2.
