Drew, Red Sox look to continue home dominance
Jun 10, 2008 - 12:36 PM Baltimore (31-31) at Boston (40-26) 6:05 p.m. EDTBOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Red Sox aim to continue rolling at home when they open up a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.
Boston is 5-1 on its current eight-game homestand and is a major league-best 26-6 at home.
J.D. Drew has been a big part of Boston's success over the past week as the 32-year-old is batting .550 (11-for-20) with three home runs, including the go-ahead blast in Sunday's 2-1 victory, and seven RBI over his last six games. The hot hitting has all come while batting in the No. 3 spot with David Ortiz on the disabled list with a wrist injury.
The Orioles are making their first trip to Fenway Park this season and will face Red Sox ace Josh Beckett (6-4, 4.07 ERA). The righthander is 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in two starts against Baltimore this season. He allowed one run over six innings, earning the win in his last outing against Tampa Bay last Wednesday.
The Orioles will counter with righthander Daniel Cabrera (5-2, 3.98), who is coming off his worst start of the season. The 27-year-old allowed six runs in six innings during Baltimore's 7-5 loss against Minnesota last Wednesday.
Baltimore won the first three games before dropping the finale of a four-game set at Toronto, 5-4, on Sunday.
