Twins hope to end five-game slide

Jun 10, 2008 - 12:39 PM Minnesota (31-33) at Cleveland (29-35) 7:05 pm EDT

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The slumping Minnesota Twins will try to snap their five-game losing streak on Tuesday when they visit

the Cleveland Indians.

Minnesota hands the ball to Scott Baker (2-0, 4.03 ERA), who hasn't posted a winning decision since beating the White Sox on April 9.

The 26-year-old Baker was outstanding in his first meeting against the Indians, holding them to just one run with eight strikeouts in seven innings on April 20. He is 2-4 with a 3.88 ERA over eight career starts in the series.

C.C. Sabathia (3-8, 4.81) goes for the Indians, who split their four-game series with the Detroit Tigers as a result of Monday's 8-2 victory. The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner is 0-3 over his last four outings, including a 9-4 loss at Texas where he gave up five runs in six innings.

The hard-throwing lefthander hasn't faced the Twins this season, but does own an 11-8 record with a 3.28 ERA through 28 career starts in the series.

Cleveland first baseman Ryan Garko has been an RBI machine of late, driving in 14 runs over his last seven games.
