Twins try to end woes vs. Byrd, Indians

CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Twins are enduring their worst stretch in five years and things don't appear to be getting any better.

The Twins try to end their woes when they continue a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday.

Minnesota has lost six games in a row - its longest losing streak since it dropped eight straight during the 2003 season - and has been outscored, 44-17, over that span.

The Twins may have a difficult time getting back on track against Indians' starter Paul Byrd (3-5, 4.46 ERA), who has dominated Minnesota during his career.

Byrd is 10-3 in 17 lifetime starts against the Twins and has been even better recently, posting a 5-1 record and 2.82 ERA over his last seven outings against the American League Central Division rivals.

Nick Blackburn (4-4, 3.94 ERA) tries to earn his first win since May 16 when he takes the mound for the Twins.

Blackburn was pounded for seven runs and eight hits in just four innings, suffering the loss during Friday's 10-6 setback to the Chicago White Sox.
