Uggla, Marlins eyeing sweep of Phillies
Jun 12, 2008 - 1:13 PM Philadelphia (39-28) at Florida (36-29), 7:10 pm EDTMIAMI (Ticker) -- Dan Uggla and the Florida Marlins look to complete a three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday.
Uggla hit a walk-off grand slam in the ninth inning Wednesday, lifting the Marlins to a 6-2 victory over the Phillies. It was the fourth walk-off homer for Florida this season.
"When you hit them like that, you have a good feeling that they are going to get out of there," Uggla said.
Jorge Cantu also homered twice for the Marlins, who have won four of their last five games. The three blasts also gave Florida a major league-leading 101 for the year.
Philadelphia starter Jamie Moyer (6-3, 4.56 ERA) will try to contain the Marlins' powerful lineup, while attempting to pick up his fifth straight win.
The 45-year-old lefthander is coming off a no decision, allowing two runs and five hits over 5 1/3 innings during a 4-3 triumph over the Atlanta Braves on Friday.
The Marlins will counter with Scott Olsen (4-2, 3.44), who is seeking his first win since May 6. The 24-year-old lefthander tossed six innings, surrendering four runs - none earned - on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in Saturday's 8-7 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
