Contreras, White Sox aim to rebound, face Rockies

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Jose Contreras and his Chicago White Sox teammates both hope to get back into the winning column.

Contreras and the White Sox look to win the rubber match of their three-game interleague series against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

Chicago lost for the first time in 10 games at U.S. Cellular Field when it suffered a 2-0 setback to Colorado on Saturday. The White Sox were limited to just three hits and made two errors in the field that led directly to both Rockies' runs.

They also could not stop Colorado center fielder Willy Taveras from running wild, as he had two hits and stole a season-high five bases.

The home team hands the ball over to Contreras (6-4, 3.18 ERA), who wants to rebound from his worst performance of the season.

The 6-4, 255-pound Cuban was tagged for season highs of six runs and 13 hits in six innings of a 6-4 defeat at the hands of Detroit on Tuesday. The righthander is 2-0 lifetime vs. the Rockies, dating back to when he was a member of the New York Yankees.

Colorado counters with its ace Aaron Cook (9-3, 3.21 ERA). The 29-year-old righthander, who has never faced the White Sox, has been victorious in his last three decisions and has given up three runs or less in nine of his 14 starts in 2008.

The Rockies are looking the win their fourth straight series.
