Athletics seek sweep in Bay Bridge Series

SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The Oakland Athletics will hope to continue their dominance in the "Bay Bridge Series" on Sunday when they go for the three-game sweep against the San Francisco Giants.

The Athletics used a dominating performance from starter Rich Harden to post a 4-0 victory over the Giants on Saturday. Harden allowed just one hit with nine strikeouts over six scoreless innings en route to his first win since May 23.

Jack Cust had an RBI double, Daric Barton added a sacrifice fly and Kurt Suzuki had three hits for Oakland, which secured its fifth straight win in the "Bay Bridge Series" against its local rival.

San Francisco starter Kevin Correia (1-3, 4.50 ERA) will try to stop that trend. The 27-year-old righthander will be activated before the game and make his first start since April 26. Correia pulled a muscle in his left side in the first inning of a 10-9 setback to the Cincinnati Reds he has been on the disabled list since.

The Athletics will counter with lefthander Dana Eveland (4-5, 3.76), who is hoping to avoid his third straight loss. The 24-year-old Eveland gave up two runs and four hits and six walks with three strikeouts over six frames in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the New York Yankees.
