Red-hot Hernandez aiming to end Mariners' skid

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- The Seattle Mariners will send Felix Hernandez to the mound Tuesday, hoping to snap a four-game losing against the Florida Marlins in the middle contest of a three-game interleague series.

Hernandez (5-5, 2.81 ERA) has not allowed an earned run in his last three starts, winning each of those contests after losing his previous five decisions.

The 22-year-old Hernandez allowed an unearned run and four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts over eight innings during Wednesday's 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

He will be opposed by Scott Olsen (4-3, 3.27), who was a tough-luck loser his last time out. The lefthander yielded two runs - one earned - and six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts over seven frames in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Olsen has not picked up a win since May 6, going 0-2 and raising his ERA from 2.22 in that span.

The Mariners shook things up in the front office on Monday, firing general manager Bill Bavasi, but it didn't seem to help on the field. Seattle suffered a 6-1 loss to Florida in the series opener.
